This Week at Zion Church Dec. 8-15

Dec 8th, 2017

MISSION OF THE MONTH: In December, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League invites you to participate once again this year in the STARS OF HOPE TREE, in the Large Gathering Room. This project will support the Hancock County Hope House in Greenfield. If you would like to help in this project, just take a star off of the tree and purchase the items listed on the star. You may return them under the tree and the items will be delivered to Hope House.

Sponsor a Family for Christmas!  If you are looking for a way you, or your family, could serve this Christmas season please consider sponsoring a family in our community.  If you choose to sponsor a  family, you will be given a list of items to purchase and wrap.  In some cases, you will be able to deliver these gifts to the family in need.  If you are aware of a family that needs assistance this year, or would like to sponsor a family, please contact Pastor Jason at 317 771-1691 or pastorjasontaylor@comcast.net

BIBLE STUDY OPPORTUNITY:  How does God work in the world?  What are the main points of the Bible stories that my children are leaning in Sunday School and in the day school?  Where do we see Jesus spoken of in the Old Testament?  Is the God of the Old Testament merciful or harsh? What wisdom of God can I learn for my life?  Topic: Genesis 12-50.   Abraham through Joseph.     Meet in the cafeteria  9:30-10:15.   Sundays Dec. 3, 10, 17, Jan.  7, 14, 21. This study is part of the Zion Discipleship Series.   (Note: For those planning on being a part of the Adults vs. Zion School Bible Quiz team competition, this would be an excellent way to prepare.)

MARK YOUR CALENDARS—The 7th & 8th grades would like to invite you to come to the first ever Bible Quiz Competition/Supper on Friday, February 16 at 6 pm.  Come join us for a light free will donation potato bar supper followed by a Bible quiz competition, MC’d by Steve Lewer.  You are encouraged to put together teams of 8@$80/team to compete against our very own Bible Quiz team that just placed 2nd in the Lutheran grade school competition in October.  We will be doing the book of Genesis.  All monies will go toward the class trip to Washington DC trip in May.

Please direct any questions to Daryn Wilkins at 317-442-1758 or sign up in the gathering area at the back table.  Monies for the teams will be collected that night at the door.  NOTE:  NO Pastor, current or retired may be on a team (just to be fair) but are welcomed as spectators.  Prizes will be awarded to the winning team!
